This short clip from Governor Pritzker’s Commencement address is a timely reminder.

Fear and Judgement are evolutionary traits that helped us survive. It doesn’t take sophisticated thinking or morality to leverage these traits.

Kindness lets us use empathy and compassion to override the default fear and judgements. It takes effort to become aware of our fears and judgement, and to grow beyond them.

The inability or unwillingness to move beyond the default fear and judgement, or the deliberate weaponisation of cruelty, shows an individual to be unevolved, unsophisticated, and unsmart. It is the unwillingness to grow.

Who type of person would you want to be?
