Sometimes I catch myself saying sh*t to my cat. Like "Who's my precious?" (Embarrassing I know...)

And often I get this look: "What's wrong with you, human? If I were really your precious you'd shut up and feed me." Which I must admit, is an absolutely fair point.

When businesses "do" marketing and advertising, they don't always hear how they sound to their customers. If they did, maybe their messages would become less vapid and we would all become less cynical. (Nah!)

Sometimes I wonder if it should be mandatory to test all marketing messages on a panel of cynics and ne'er-do-wells. Just to make sure we don't sound like an utter prat.

Exhibit A: "If you don't have an iphone..."
