I have never really understood why some people choose to treat people they perceive to be of a lesser status with less respect. Treating everyone with civility is simply prudent. Even if one were to adopt a self-serving don’t-piss-off-those-who-may-become-useful-later stance.
In today’s fluid world, we can never be completely sure who the person we are being rude is, or will be. We can also never be sure who may be witnessing this behaviour.
Would you work with someone who treats the “unimportant” people with disrespect?
