BBC article about Musk

Some leaders eschew Root Cause Analysis for Rude Boss Analysis.

In Rude Boss Analysis, the focus is on finding someone else to blame and doing so publicly and blatantly. This party is, of course, never the boss. It is always someone else.

This thought was triggered by this BBC article on Elon Musk.

Musk’s recent public behaviour demonstrates this concept. He agreed with an antisemitic comment on his social media platform. That caused big-name advertisers to pull their advertising. Musk then publicly blamed these advertisers for “blackmailing” his business and causing its eventual bankruptcy. At no point did he reflect on his behaviour or take any accountability as a leader.
