The simplistic, unchanging nature of unquestioned beliefs is attractive because we are fearful and lazy.
Beliefs protect us from having to confront the vast unknowns out there. Because we want simple and enduring sureties. And because we know we will never know it all.
Beliefs retard our innate spirit of curiosity and discovery, because we don't want to be challenged lest we have to change and grow.
Beliefs lock us to the fixed point in time at which they were created and declared divinely immutable. We stay safe; back in the way back when.
Because we fear to become more. And also because we fear others becoming more.
Beliefs stops us learning. Because we already know it all. Chapter and verse. It cocoons us within our limits.
And we are thus blinded to the magnificence of the universe and our potential stunted.
