Everyone is so well mannered here. I watched a mother pick of a small piece of sticky tape from the bottom of her young son’s socks on the train today, and put it in her pocket to dispose of at home!
I spotted a Coming of Age day survey on TV briefly – on what 21-year-olds desire for their future. From what I could decipher, it appeared that over 90% wanted a stable and comfortable life.
There is nothing wrong with wanting comfort and predictability of course. We are all hard-wired for it. I can’t help but wonder how this majority desire for comfort and predictability would impact risk-taking, and therefore innovation and creative thinking in the long run.
Perhaps somewhat more comfortingly, 30-odd percent did express a desired to be an independent entrepreneur.
