Set an emotionally and physically safe, comfortable scene.

  • Use a new space to aid new thinking if at all possible. Off-site often works well. Or rearrange the furniture of an existing room.
  • Make sure there is enough space to walk around, stretch, and perch on window sills and tables.
  • Provide comfortable chairs or even bean bags.
  • Get plenty of light and set the thermostat at a comfortable temperature.
  • Use whiteboards, writing pads and blue tack or sticky tape to capture keywords and drawings.
  • Provide food, coffee and, toys especially if the session is longer than an hour.
