not-unwrapped

I really don’t get how some people will insist they are buying something for its design/feel/quality, only to then cover up those qualities with something very much the antithesis of the purchasing rationale.

Is this a form of subconscious guilt-fuelled abnegation? A poverty mentality (hence the “maintain re-sell value” reasoning)? A fear of committing to using a product? Or even a fear of “aging” and decrepitude?! Like these plastic flowers kept under plastic wrap.

I also don’t understand why people leave manufacturer’s stickers on whitegoods. Like this used microwave advertised for sale on gumtree.com.au - with the sticker still in place.

Is this a fear of commitment? Don’t-care-dness?

What gives?
