I have one of these. It is a triangular tray with three hollows for the eggs to sit in. The whole thing then goes into a hot water bath in a pan for the eggs to cook.

Every time I use it, I get a kick out of how my fork fits neatly into a "left me up" slot, so I can neatly pull the whole out of the hot water bath without burning myself, or spilling the contents. Someone has thought about this. It is useful. It is simple to operate. And it works. Every time.

So have can we design such functional simplicity into services? Can really complex systems and processes be rendered down into such startling, and often invisible, simplicity?
