Business Blogging: Seminar

I developed and presented this two-hour seminar on blogging and businesses for the New South Wales Department of State and Regional Development. This was intended as an introduction to blogging for small to medium sized businesses.

The seminar touched on the social aspects of blogging: transparency, openness, authenticity, conversations, tribes and relationships. I also touched on emerging social media, as well as overviews of setting up a blog and the blogging process.

The feedback from attendees was very positive.

Working Parents Toolkit: Book and Brochure

I designed this 100-page workbook for a group of professionals who help new parents design and manage their work-life balance.

I also designed a double-sided A4 brochure.

There’s a Sunny Southern Land: Workshop

I created and delivered this short talk to community leaders running art workshops for new migrants. These workshops aims to encourage new migrants to consider what it means to be Australian. They are organised by Christian Community Aid with the support of the Australian Federal Government’s Department of Immigration and Citizenship.

My talk revolved around how migrant artists have, and continue to, evolve their craft in response to the new and unique landscape they found themselves in. Apart from historical examples, I also drew anecdotes from my own personal experience as a migrant, my own paintings, and those of my father (who is a professional artist).

Greenpeace: “The Big Switch” Survey Compilation

After the 2007 Federal Elections, Greenpeace wanted to know what the stakeholders thought of their “The Big Switch” climate change campaign.

I created a Word form initially for Greenpeace to send out, and then compiled the final report from the received responses.

The final report included a one-page summary of the ten thematic sections of the survey. The survey was qualitative by nature, and my work involved identifying the patterns across all the responses.

I updated my website again - both my design and business consultancy work have now be integrated under a single umbrella - the thinking designer.

The updated website presents this new positioning, with a simpler look and feel, shallower navigation, and significantly less text. A big thanks to all the people who gave me valuable feedback.

This redesign coincided with my tenth year of working for myself. My 10 year timeline diagram, which took most of a day to construct, was very enthusiastically received!

The Supervised Fund: Identity, Brochure & Website

The Supervised Fund is an investment fund for wholesale clients.

I design the logo, product disclosure brochure (and other printed material), and the website. Part of this project involved working out how best to organise the information on the website, some of which is similar to the product disclosure brochure, to expedite future updates and reduce errors.

Given the target audience, a lot of emphasis was placed on legibility of the printed material and the website.
