IBM: The Australian Open Tennis
IBM Australia came to me with a challenge – to create their corporate booth at the Australian Open Tennis in Melbourne. There was but a few weeks, and a very limited budget to create something that conveys the right messages.
I develop a design strategy to communicate the required message using the space, environmental graphics, props, custom furniture and on-screen content.
I remotely liaised with the builder and other suppliers in Melbourne to enable the fit out to happen on time and on budget. Everything came together smoothly. The first time I actually saw any of the work was during the final installation.
I had to use the hardware and software that was available to the IBM team – it is amazing what can be achieved with banks of wall-mounted 15” LCD monitors and just Powerpoint! I also designed the appropriately simple furniture, props, and environmental graphics to maintain message coherence and to save time.
