Design is conscious and playful creation.

Design thinking can turn constraints into opportunities. It is integrative and generative, creating greater sums out of disparate parts. It is by its nature out-of-the-box and convention-challenging.

Design thinking can present unique insights and solutions to your business challenges.

Business is personal. Empathy and listening skills are the building blocks of quality relationships. They unlock potential and enable collaboration and knowledge sharing.

Everyone wants to be heard, understood and valued. Emotionally intelligent business practices directly affect productivity, morale, loyalty and commitment.

Systems thinking examines every challenge and takes actions in context of the big picture. It is concerned with interactions and relationships between the parts and the whole.

Systems thinking can help you avoid short term symptomatic fixes. It can reveal strategy oversights, and hidden opportunities in your environment.

Logical thinking is a great evaluation, planning and organising tool.

It can help you choose the right solution amongst options. It is essential in the software development and business process improvement. It can even streamline the production and management of documents and other content material.

I have a large body of multidisciplinary design work (since 1992) across graphics, communications, information, web, exhibitions, and objects.

I have a BA in Industrial Design (Curtin University of Technology) plus undergraduate studies in architecture and the sciences.

I have training in counselling skills (Australian College of Applied Psychology).

I have worked successfully with clients from diverse backgrounds and cultures. And I have dealt with my share of difficult people.

I speak, read and write Mandarin, and have studied Arabic.

I have successfully built my business solely on word-of-mouth for 10 years (1998-2008).

I am a published author; I write about business innovation.

I have a postgraduate certificate in business operations management (University of Technology Sydney).

I am a competent self-trained web programmer – Lotus Domino, Javascript, PHP and ASP/VBScript.

I have both strategic and hands-on experience of web technologies.

I have worked on technical projects large and tiny – from the Olympic Games to one-person online shops.

Deliberate non-specialisation

Do you want to think outside the box of your industry? You need someone who is unencumbered with insider knowledge, who can ask the truly “dumb” and revealing questions.

Do you want to learn from the practices and thinking of industries other than your own? You need someone who has worked across diverse industries.

My specialisation is creative problem solving. You are the subject-matter expert of your industry, as it should be!
