Change is constant. And inevitable.
But we also need stability.
We are creatures of comfort. Change can be invigorating in short bursts, but we can only tolerate a certain amount of change-stress. Stability is the salve for change-stress. It is necessary for our longer-term psychological wellbeing.
Stability is also necessary for efficiency. Efficiency (economies of scale and repeatability) cannot happen without stability. When we are busy reacting to and fighting fires, we don’t have the time or mental space to reflect on what we are doing at a higher level.
So what does stability look like to you, in your context?
