We all get taught that attention to detail is important. The devil is in the details. Perhaps because so much of our work is detail-oriented; with lists to tick-off and spelling to check. And yet we also know that in the real world, sometimes good enough has to be good enough. Because there simply aren't enough hours in the day to perfect every single task.

So how do we know when good enough is good enough (GEiGE)?

Here are two ways I go about this. When lists become daunting, this may help take the pressure off. Often just reminding myself about making this distinction helps me.

1. Divide a list of priorities into "must be perfect" and "GEiGE." The could also be another group for "perfect if possible."

2. Mark each item in a to-do last with “Perfect” or “Good Enough.” Or “Perfect if Possible.”
