The main exhibition at the Amsterdam museum uses a timeline very effectively to lead visitors through the narrative.

The timeline ran through all the rooms dedicated to the exhibition. It provided a clear sense of chronology and worked well to highlight just enough pertinent information.

The range of objects, videos,  paintings and interactive elements were carefully selected so as to avoid overwhelming the visitor.

The use of four thematic keywords representing Amsterdam's DNA - civic virtue, spirit of enterprise,  creativity,  freedom of thought - throughout the exhibiting also worked very effectively to tie everything together. And served to reinforce the key characteristics of the city.

QR codes on the back of visitor brochures can be used to trigger videos in the language of the brochure. Very cute.

All in all a very satisfactory visit!
