Would you ever tell someone their baby’s ugly? No?
Then why would you tell a client their business or project is ugly, broken, etc?!
Yes some projects start on the wrong track, address the wrong issues, become blind-sighted and lose their way. Yes some babies are not terribly fetching. Stating the obviously that overly is not helpful.
We need to focus on addressing the now, and on identifying the potential in the future. These are (usually) present if we look deep enough.
If we can’t find an aspect of a client’s business/project we can love like our own, even with deep looking; perhaps that is not the right client for us.
