A safe and comfortable place to live/work can breed complacency. It is also the best place to try risky new things we would not otherwise contemplate - such as starting a new business, learning a new skill or developing an interest to a greater depth.
We can move to a new place to live -an exotic new city or country. Work won't need to be exciting then. (And perhaps shouldn't be so to avoid stress overload?) A familiar job description in a routine to balance out the adventure of living in a new place.
Extremophiles of course can go for broke on both fronts. New career, new country, new everything.
