Rebooting Finland’s education system

  • Not focusing on excellence.
  • Getting rid of competitiveness.
  • Find your passion.
  • Follow your dreams.
  • Reduce testing.
  • Kids should be kids.
  • No private schools.
  • Pay teachers a decent wage.
  • Increase the prestige of being a teacher.
  • It’s harder to become a teacher than it is to become a lawyer

Bottom line – Finnish kids now top 3 in the world in Academic excellence.

Fundamental systemic reboots are possible, with astounding results.

It is all too easy to slip into the comforting belief that what we currently have is unquestionably enduring and perfect. Just because we do not know any better does not mean we should just accept what we have, and not bother … innovating!

Rebooting capitalism for example – the current system is clearly flawed and dangerous. Can we improve on it? Rewrite its rules of engagement to suit this age?

Of course we can. The big question is: dare we press the reset button? Do we have the will to make that choice? Or do we just limp on and try not to think of what’s coming?
