The season of saccharin carols and rabid consumerism looms nigh. I came upon this set of intriguing parallels between the Jesus story and that of the Egyptian god Horus.

Conspiracy stories aside, perhaps it is our nature to stick to and recycle the same stories again and again? What is old will be new again given enough time.

The graphics style of the sixties seems to be coming back again for example. The fashion industry is a great (increasingly accelerated timeframe) example too.

Is this a simply a manifestation of our short term focus? Limited pan-generational memory? Arrogance of youth-obsessed death-denying culture? Where we are unable to learn effectively from the past and so am doomed to take five steps back for every step forward?
