Consuming information, oil and alcohol

From Discovery Channel Magazine, Sep 2010:

Life 2.0
“… in 1960, our parents spent just over seven hours each day consuming information. But today we spend close to 12 hours a day.”

“A 4,645-square-metre [server] farm guzzles about 57 barrels of oil a day. … Cloud computing as a greener concept? Not if you look at server farms as part of the package.”

Demon Drink
“It’s not so much about what you drink, but rather your expectations. If you expect the contents of your glass to make you happier or more relaxed, then it will probably have that result, whether it contains alcohol or not.”
