eicolab: design thinking for business innovation

Weird business idea

A little girl went missing. Her mother reported it a month later. Home videos of the little girl singing “You Are My Sunshine” circulated through the media. Then her own mother was fingered, by her grandmother, for the murder.

And now, you can buy a doll of the (dead) little girl that sings “You Are My Sunshine”. Seriously. Weird.

What is truly interesting is the amount of justification, rationalisation and self-justification the manufacturer goes through. And of course, since they are in the (divine?) right, they must continue to produce more dubious dolls, just so the same rationalisations and justifications can be repeated.

How many businesses (or indeed people) operate at this level of denial and delusion? Is it denial or delusion, or simply sticking to a grand vision?
