eicolab: design thinking for business innovation

Lessons from transitions

Transitions – saying goodbye, moving home, changing jobs, starting/ending a business – are often hard. They are rife with emotions and chaotic thoughts.

Transitions also offer the potential for clarity and realisations. If we can avoid being consumed by the whirpool of emotions and thoughts.

For someone who is inclined to think too much anyway, I certainly noticed this phenomenon this time round as I leave Perth (family) to return to Singapore (work). It is hard to paddle out of a whirlpool – to stop trying to force clarity, and to simply wait quietly for the next “thing” whatever that may be.
