Freedom Escapes still at it

See my previous post and comments on this annoying phone spammer.

Had another call from them again! I couldn’t believe it.

Once again, the first line was an adamant insistence that they are a Sydney registered company. Again, this just sounded fishy. As does the whole “we are giving you something you have to pay for” line…

Hi There, I have just recd a call from Freedom Escapes and the pressure to part with $209.00 came thick and fast. I am glad that I did some research and thank you for posting this information.

Brian there was never any pressure on people to buy things from telemarketer. They just give you some offers and if you are interested and satisfy with their answers then you can buy.You people are just making a useless big deal outta it !!! Zerin if you are really annoyed with this then why don’t u do anything with it if u can !!!

    I must respectfully disagree Catherine.

The majority of unwanted, unsolicited telemarketing calls are from very pushy sales people whose primary focus is cramming sales info down my throat – often for irrelevant products – and with no respite for thinking or breathing space.

Ringing a couple of times a day, three to four times a week – if that is not pressure I don’t know what is.

There is a very real pressure to sign-up now, pay now, and give us your credit card now. The intention is to overload, confuse and coerce there and then. I can’t remember the last time a telemarketer said “please take your time to think about it, take as long as you like…”?

Yes I am annoyed by telemarketers. Especially ones that ring to offer crap I don’t and have never wanted, when I am in the midst of organising a funeral (true story) – they were selling me some dodgy race horse stud farming scam. Total and utter disrespect.

So what do I do about it? I’ll tell you Catherine:

    • I write about it.
    • I think about new alternatives to marketing that is more respectful.
    • I encourage discussions and brainstorming for alternatives.
    • I tell these people (politely) that I do not appreciate telemarketing calls and I will add all perpetrators to my blacklist.
    • I keep a blacklist of every company who telemarkets to me (just like companies who spam me).
    • I actively use that black list to avoid doing business with these companies.

We don’t have to put up with bad behaviour. And I am doing what I can about it.
