Snapped at CeBIT recently:

Clever or just ridiculous?
No I did not stop to find out what they were selling.

Maybe the “thin air” is inside the big green thing?
Hi Zern,
I found CeBIT disappointing. The (dis)organisers couldn’t manage a cup of coffee for people paying $400 to go to the eGovernment conference, couldn’t get the seating right for the excellence in eGovernment awards that night, couldn’t keep the blogzone laptops working, couldn’t keep the CeBIT-TV screen going. Most stallholders couldn’t find time to talk to the two clients and I that wandered around, despite them being responsible for millions of dollars a year in IT spending (except for the Panasonic ToughBook guys - they rocked - and the people I met at dinner that night - especially that slim VoIP system vendor employee, she knows who she is) - they mostly didn’t make the connection between “people in suits” and “people with money to spend”.
I learnt a lot - QLD government is going Creative Commons on 85% of their information, yay, and there were some great presentations from FOSS advocates.
I’d say that there were a lot of people making money out of thin air there
Cheers, Andrew
The QLD government’s Creative Commons move is interesting indeed.
Are people still making as much money out of thin air as they did during the dot.com craze?
Or are people giving much less of a poop about technology these days?
