Is this shop closed?

This is the shopfront of a large electrical retailer in central Sydney. Every time I walk pass this shop my first impression is always “oh, they’re shut.”

The blue strips are actually and intentional “design feature” – sticky vinyl applied onto the fixed glass panels. The shape of the holes and the regularity of the pattern strongly suggest a shut gate.

The actual doorway is to the right of this arrangement (not visible in the photo), and occupies only about 15% of the total visual area. You have to turn to the right to see the doorway.

And the first thing you see above the doorway is a (badly made) sign that says “Mind the Step”; because there is a huge ugly ramp across the doorway to cover the cabling for the anti-theft sensors.

Has this been thought through?
