As I was wandering up and down the aisles between the numerous stalls at Paddy’s Market on the weekend, I noticed the market seem to be largely made up of multiple look-alike stalls. There were multiple stalls selling the same selection of wigs, toys, lingerie, and nuts. They were all set out alike; creating a somewhat surreal disorientation as I weaved around the market.
The handful of stand-out stalls thankfully provided a sense of sane signposting – selling gold fish, kebabs and rugs. They stood out because they sold markedly different things. One stall in particular also stood out because it was noticeable less stuffed with goods - there were white space around the products!
If your business were a stall in your market, would you be one of the many look-alikes or the few stand-outs?
